About My Hero

Where to begin?  Do I start with, he'd give you the shirt off his back?  Or do I go into the way he is with me when I'm a bit down with PD?  Or!!!!  Do I tell you about all the camouflage paraphernalia...the guns...the ATV...the "anything" one might need for turkey hunting?  LOL  Do I tell you that he's yet to get his first turkey and that when he does, it will be the most expensive meal we will ever eat!!   Oooops, I guess I'd better let that be his story huh?  LOL

I will tell you that here's a man that prior to the PC, would read the encyclopedia for fun and watch the Discovery Channel (and still does) for entertainment.  Now, he will literally spend hours surfing the net for some of the most "unusual" topics!!! And if he's interested in something, like turkey hunting, he will search for every piece of resource material he can find.  In other words, he'll know more about the mating habits of the turkey better than the turkey does! lOL  I will tell you, he has an ear for music and he's teaching himself to play the piano.   He can build anything he sets his mind to and fix anything if he's so inclined.

Here's a man that calls me religiously everyday at 11AM and 3PM  just checking to see how I am.  A man who either cooks or cleans the kitchen every night.  A man who doesn't understand the concept of closing a cabinet door or picking up his shoes out of the living room floor.  So he's not perfect...he's just human.  If anyone should write a book, it's Gary.  A retired First Sergeant, he's not quick to judge, but once he makes a determination, he seldom renigs on it.  With all that's happening in Iraq, Korea, Iran etc. etc. etc., he's very good to talk to ...he helps me understand the what's and the what's for and then I become as frustrated as he does.

Our marriage is by far not perfect, but we're content to grow old together.  He is the love of my life and I know I am his.   I have a vast respect for care partners.  You know who they are don't you?  They're the people who "choose" to stay in a relationship when a devastating disease is part of that relationship.  I got lucky...I got the sweetheart of my youth back...how much better can it get?
